Assess the quality of any material by gage calibration through API Thread Gages

The work of a gage is to read or measure the thickness of any test piece by timing the echoes of sound very accurately. For converting these measurements of time into thickness measurements, the gages must be programmed in co-ordination with the speed of sound in the material which is to be tested as well as any required zero offsets that have to be provided to the instrument, whether transducer type or echo shape. This method is known as the gage calibration. Any ultrasonic measurement is considered to be accurate only if the calibration of the instrument is accurate. Incorrect calibrations shall give inappropriate results. API thread gages are certain specific instruments which are designed to get perfect calibration of instruments using thread rings and plugs.
